end-user license agreement
Sconce End-User License Agreement
Effective 9 June 2026 · Beta
This agreement covers both the Sconce macOS app and the Sconce Bridge plugin for JetBrains IDEs (together, “Sconce” or “the Software”). By installing or using either, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t install or use the Software.
1 License
Sconce is commercial, proprietary software. © 2026 Sconce. All rights reserved. Free to use is not the same as open source — the Software is offered at no cost during the beta, but its source code is closed and remains the property of Sconce.
Subject to this agreement, you’re granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software on devices you own or control, for your own use.
2 What you may not do
You may not:
- redistribute, sublicense, sell, rent, or otherwise make the Software available to others;
- modify, adapt, or create derivative works from it;
- decompile, disassemble, or reverse-engineer it, or attempt to derive its source code, except to the narrow extent applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction;
- remove or alter any copyright, branding, or proprietary notices.
3 Privacy & data
Sconce works out which of your Claude Code sessions are working, waiting, or need approval entirely on your machine — from local Claude Code hook events and the tail end of each session’s local transcript file. No conversation content is transmitted anywhere.
The only data that leaves your device is crash reports, sent to our error-monitoring provider (Sentry) to help us fix bugs. During the beta these are on by default; they are scrubbed of usernames and file paths on your device before being sent, and you can turn them off at any time in the Setup Assistant.
4 Beta software — no warranty
Sconce is beta software, provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. It may change, break, or be discontinued at any time without notice.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sconce and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Software.
5 Pricing
The core of Sconce — session detection, the panel, and click-to-focus — is free, and is intended to stay free. Optional quality-of-life features may be offered as paid add-ons in the future. This agreement applies however you obtain the Software.
6 Changes & termination
We may update this agreement; the current version always lives at sconce.io/eula, and continued use after a change means you accept it. This license ends automatically if you breach its terms — at which point you must stop using and uninstall the Software.
